STOPA Slovakia is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to ending street homelessness in Bratislava.
We are a member of the European network of cities participating in The European End Street Homelessness Campaign and are also a registered provider of social services. Our work is based on an integrated approach that combines social work, therapy, and environmental activities to support people experiencing homelessness on their journey towards independent living.
The effectiveness of our approach is reflected in tangible results: many of the people we have supported have successfully reintegrated into society and no longer need—or wish to rely on—social services. Through long-term support, empowerment, and practical assistance, we help individuals rebuild their lives, regain stability, and become active members of their communities once again.
STOPA Slovakia focuses on providing comprehensive support to people experiencing homelessness—from meeting their immediate basic needs to offering long-term assistance aimed at successful reintegration into society.
The organisation’s goal is not only to help people survive difficult circumstances but also to create the conditions that enable them to regain independence, rebuild their lives, and make a fresh start. Through personalised support, social services, and empowerment programmes, STOPA Slovakia helps individuals develop the skills, confidence, and stability needed to achieve lasting social inclusion and self-sufficiency.
Our work is founded on the belief that homelessness is not simply a personal failure, but rather the result of a complex interplay of social, economic, and health-related challenges. For this reason, we strive to approach every individual with respect, understanding, and personalised support.
STOPA Slovakia provides:
Our goal is not merely to provide short-term relief, but to create lasting change that enables people to rebuild their lives, regain independence, and successfully return to everyday community life.
STOPA Slovakia operates both directly in the field and through cooperation with partner organisations. A significant part of our work is carried out by outreach workers who actively seek out people experiencing homelessness and provide support wherever they are.
Our activities are funded through grants, public fundraising campaigns, and the generosity of donors who believe in our mission and share our commitment to ending homelessness.
At STOPA Slovakia, help is more than just a word—it is a concrete action. Our mission is to restore dignity, hope, and the opportunity for a new beginning to people who have lost them. Through compassion, professional support, and long-term solutions, we help individuals rebuild their lives and regain their place in society.
